X Men: The Last Stand

Caution, spoilers ahead.....And if you fear that you may develop preconceived judgements and opinions regarding the show after reading this halfway, please do not continue. I do not want to poison your mind. But don't worry the show isn't all too bad. If you think that this is all that you should know please don't read what's below also, cause you may rate the show as kick ass or darn good if you see it youselfff..!!! But if you are so darn stubborn, then you might as well continue to read. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

As the title suggests, it would sound that this movie marks the end of the trilogy of X-Men. So being one of the most anticipated movie of this year, I was crossing my fingers that this last instalment would end with a bang plus the X factor. So after watching the movie at Times Square today, I've come to discover that it was a job modestly done by stand-in director Brett Ratner.

Now my issues with Brett Ratner

  1. HOW COULD HE NOT MAKE THIS MOVIE BETTER???sob
  2. HOW COULD HE NOT MAKE THIS MOVIE BETTER???sob sob
  3. HOW COULD HE NOT MAKE THIS MOVIE BETTER???sob sob sob...
First, Brett Ratner isn't suppose to direct the show. I've know idea why they even choose him to replace Brian Singer as a stand-in director given his movie credentials, (some small movies....many... not even heard before) and mind you, he had to learn how to make a superhero movie from Brian Singer for a while, who happened to leave the X men project for another blockbuster superhero movie: Yup u guessed it.... Superman.( Hopefully, Superman is a better show. )

But given the above fact, fortunately, yes I REPEAT the show did not turn out to be a flop. The problem was the show was too short to actually fit so many mutants, the addition of Colossus, Shadowcat, Juggernaut, Beast, Multiple Man and "Archi"(shockwave girl). Development of the characters was too little and Juggernaut was so dumb in the show, i think he's a guy with superhuman strength but an intellectual capability of a nine year old kid.

Scott, was transformed into a cry baby, but that is understandable, considering his lost but what is even more ridiculous is that, throughout the entire movie that was only what he was suppose to do. I think Brett Ratner should have developed his character more before killing him off. Storm did better this time comparatively to the first two movies. The aforementioned new characters also were immediately brought into action amidst the war between the mutants and humans over the "cure". I think the problem with the show is that it needed to be an action movie. So I guess Brett Ratner compromised between what the people wanted and what the movie should have been. In fact from the moment the "cure" was discovered, the show somehow was shifted "instinctively" towards how Magneto and co was trying to destroy the "cure" and how the good mutants were trying to stop them, with a bit of distraction from Phoenix, the other side of Jean.

Now for the juicy part, Phoenix was ultimately the most scary mutant I've ever seen. CGI and special effects were awesome. The redecoration of Jean's house was wonderful, the shifting bridge and the final showdown at Alcatraz was really good not to mention the transformation of Jean was convincing enough to tell that she has turned evil. Action scenes were no doubt good at certain areas, the incident at the house was pretty shocking for me and what a sad way for Professor Xavier to die. As usual, some of the mutants return to their usual kick-ass fighting scenes like Magneto and Wolverine.

To top it up, I'll give this show a B.

yah.. kinda pissed at how the director kill cyclops character.. he is like super good & canggified in the comic.. but in the movie, he is so useless "kay leh feh"

storm was protrayed better this time.. although i think there's no where near the comic.. obviously she is much faster & better than the lousy woman(which i dont know the name).
