Gosh! The worlds's first flying hotel?

In probably what I think the most unique or somewhat interesting thing I've heard is the World's First Flying Hotel! Before I actually had a chance to view how it looked like, I was trying to picture, a pretty huge flying object in the sky, probably a helicopter-like sort of contraption flying in the air. Didn't think of the possibility of a jet propulsion sort of vehicle maintaining that levitated state otherwise, hotel residents will have to pay quite a cost to stay in a flying hotel in the sky. 

Ok, I can't actually resist at it already. I had to look.....

Pretty Bizarre but futuristic....

It really looks massive....

"A soviet Mil V-12 helicopter has been modified to make it become the world’s biggest helicopter as well as the world’s first flying hotel. The experience is of course 5 star ranging from private entertainment systems to gaming and tea gardens! The specifications for this helicopter will tell you how exactly big this chopper is. It is 135 feet long and 45 feet high. It has the ability to lift a maximum load of 105 thousand kilos off the ground and can reach a maximum speed of 255 km/hour (158 miles/hour). Big is an understatement, I should have used mammoth! The inaugural flight is to take place on the 26th of June and the price is not being disclosed.

My First Red Bean Soup!

I've actually planned to make red bean soup in a while. Just didn't have the time until now. Bought the ingredients from Yuen's. Ahh dearrr I wish you can try my red bean soup too. Next time I make for you k. MWAH!

The ingredients:

Red Bean

Sago

Rock Sugar

Red Bean, Sago, Rock Sugar and water added together :)

At this stage, I was thinking, oh man.... how will it turn out to be. a mess? tasteless? I wasn't sure if the red bean portion was enough. Looks like the sago is taking up quite a space in the pot....hmm anyway, I started the fire, boiled it for about an hour and then turned it down to the slowest while stirring it just to make sure it doesn't stick to the pot. Hmm was just agak -agaking only all the portions. Looks alright to me though....

So after a few hours,

Ok, already had eaten a few scoops here. Mmmmm, its really not bad. Ah dear I wish you can try it with me. I'll make for you next time :)

After finishing one bowl, was quite happy how it turned out :) Hmm, maybe can add more red beans. But I guess this time, its just nice. Ooh, if you can actually see on the spoon, there's some sago floating in there.

Something on my mind.....

We all like to seek answers to questions. Sometimes we seek them to reassure our own beliefs which are sometimes formed over time or through life experiences. It is in a sense liberating this feeling.  I was having a read from this book, which I find quite enlightening (although it doesn't actually relate too often to me).

Will Our Love Last?, by Sam R. Hamburg:

"What if a couple started out being similar in some area, but one person changed over the years, and they ended up being different? In other words, what happens when compatibility becomes incompatibility? For many couples, what happens is the ending of the relationship. The problem with this solution is that when couples split and move on to other partners, they are likely to find themselves in the exact same situation with a new partner. Sure, the issues might be different, but when any two people form a union, there will certainly be issues."

Marriage counselor Willard Harley uses the analogy of making deposits and withdrawals in our “love bank.”

"Each of us has a Love Bank and everyone we know has a separate account. It's the way our emotions keep track of the way people treat us. When treated well by someone, and we associate that person with good feelings, love units are deposited into his or her account in our Love Bank. But when treated badly by that person, love units are withdrawn from the Love Bank. When a person's balance is high, we like that person. But if a person withdraws more love units than he or she deposits, and the balance is in the red, we dislike that person.

Almost everything that you and your spouse do is either depositing or withdrawing love units. Since most of what you do is by habit, repeated again and again, your habits either deposit love units continually, or they withdraw them continually. That's why your habits play such a crucial role in the creation or destruction of your love for each other.

So the feeling of love can last a lifetime for a couple if they apply two lessons: 

1. Avoid withdrawing love units .
2. Keep depositing them.

It's just that simple. All it takes is maintaining Love Bank balances above the romantic love threshold."

First Day at ENT

Gosh first day at ENT.... what can I say?

Hmm, pretty interesting. But still I think Critical Care has been more exciting for me. I've thought to myself, if ever I wanna do something for life as a career, I think i prefer doing something with variety, some procedure involved. But yet, I can't seem to think of any other areas of specialty in medicine besides ED or ICU...CRAP! Ok, I might not be thinking the same way, a few months from now? or till my intern days are over?

Alright, of all the ENT stuff I did today, there's just a whole bunch of Ear stuff! Heaps of otitis externa, couple of biopsies, one involving the tongue and the other involving the hard palate. Neither actually was particularly striking to me. And also, a discussion on aural toilet, putting a wick and a grommet, which was ok, slightly higher on the interesting level.....hmm. 

What was really interesting besides the canalplasty, the operation I saw today was a friendly discussion with this patient who wrote a book Meniere's Disease! How cool is that??? Wow, according to her, she's been putting in a lot of effort into writing this book with the helps of about 300 people in the project. The book was published about 20 yrs ago according to her. And it was titled Meniere's Disease....oh man I can't remember the title. She started firing away the symptoms of Meniere's, treatment options which can include conventional medical treatment, alternative medicine and this is where it gets interesting, acupuncture, spiritual healing and also reflexology. She said the meridien points for the kidney lies on the same sort of longitudinal axis as the ears, so if you put some needles at the kidney area, you ear will get better. Hmm, did I get this part right? Ok, and then there was this part about vibration? She said she's completely deaf! And she picks out auditory stimuli through vibrations? Hmm, how bizarre to say the least. Not sure how that works. But anyway, it was pretty interesting that a patient wrote a book that even ENT specialists from around the country bought from. And its quite unfortunate that she doesn't make much from it. She was saying, the first edition sold for 20 dollars and its a rarity now, mentioning that it fetches a price of up to 60 dollars in Hobart! But still doesn't make a dime out of it. But good news is there are reprints since the first edition. Hmm, got to hunt this book down. Her descripton of the book is a blue book, sort of novel size but kind of like a 1 inch sort of thick book which we can find in the library. 

Ohhh, and the other interesting bit for the day, HHT. Gosh, heard about this when I was in surgery. Overheard the ENT consultant talking about HHT, giving case scenarios to the surgeon to answer. So after much sort of guess work on the meaning of that acronym, we finally thought that it could be Hereditary Haemorrhagic Talengiectasia, and gosh I'm right about it! Sounds like a mouthful too :S WOW and he also mentioned a great site to look out for this condition. How rare is it? Don't know but I guess, pretty common in the world of inherited conditions....hmmm

Singing Musicals

After hearing Susan Boyle taking a shot on I dreamed a dream (Les Miserables). I suddenly find myself singing musicals from my collection of musicals on iTunes.

Ahhhhh, how wonderful it is to sing something from the musicals. I've always liked singing musical numbers. And I'm glad I have this shared interest of watching musicals as well as listening to them as my dear :) I know I've always wanted to share this with someone I love. I know she is the one, the one I've been searching for. In fact we just have a discussion on what musicals to watch together which includes:

• My Fair Lady
• Les Miserables
• Phantom of The Opera
• Sound of Music

List could continue to grow, but as far as we know, this is by far the list we definitely wanna catch up with once we make our trip to London to saturate ourselves with musicals galore to our heart's content. These are some possible places to book tickets.

Hmm, I've yet to prove this theory, well at least one video will definitely demonstrate that being a cynic in the music industry has led many people to believe that looks translates to performance?

I think this is absolutely and amazing performance by an unknown! And to present a BROADWAY number certainly does require a lot of guts or preparation. Not going to spoil the bits an pieces of this video. But this certainly will go down in the history books as the most sensational performance on a talent show as well as generating an immense number of hit views on YouTube :)

Back from Sunnybank!

Just got back from Sunnybank. Was actually an outing for part of our batch who happened to be too caught up with the medical student way of life, studying....hospital clinical work. Went to this place Little Hong Kong. Had a go on roast pork, roast duck, chicken and vege. Portion wasn't that big for us considering the plate had to feed 5 mouths andnot forgetting 3 guys with much bigger appetites compared to the girls.

The Verdict: Nothing beats the roast pork, duckk, chicken I had in Melbourne which is absolutely spectacular. Till this day, I've yet to find one store which is able to beat the wonderful savoury flavour that makes it so delightful from the first bite to the last. 

And then we had some nice 'tong sui' at one shop nearby. This is where we had a real gathering for all who were there. And we took photos too! Hmm, sorry no photos for now as of yet. But hmm, this is where we actually had a better time. All of us were chatting away. I must say tonight's outing is pretty good, save for the absence of my beloved. 

Wish she was with me though today :(
