the turmoil of the world
OK... it must have been a long time sine i last blogged. Benn really busy lately on lots of stuff exams, choir, sports event as in football, road relay, squash, carrom..and no i did not make it for all of the sports except two football and carrom.
As i reflect on the latest events happening around the world, i begin to wander what is happening to the world. Let's try to recall what has happen over the past 1 year as far as my memory can go..ok Last year December 26, a massive tsunami came crashing into 12 countries killing 270000 people as a result of the magnitude 9.3 earthquake and it epicentre just off the coast of Indonesia... fast forward a few months, and you Hurricane Kathrina turned New Orleans into a bowl of water and deluged the entire city forcing its residents to move out as quickly as they could displacing them all over United States, and then another hurricane hit US, this time i'm not sure where but the damage wasnt as bad as Kathrina... ithink it was Texas... then came the Bali Bombing the latest terrorist attack on Bali AGAIN... killing 60+ people and injuring another 200 people. I thought that was it this year... and then to make it worse, A major earthquake measuring 7.3 on the R Scale turned 2.5 million people homeless and 40000 people passed on... And so that is about 4 disasters happening in less than a year.
Of course repercussions are great, aid pours in and everybody around do their best to supply basic necessities such as food, clothing, money and for those in the field medical and emotional support. But 3 natural disasters in less than a year??? Recently i watched National Geographic - Savage Earth. Scientists say that this could be just the beginning of things to come and hurricanes are a means to cool the earth, according to them beneficial. And there are times in the pass where there is a lot of hurricanes happening over a period of time and its just a cycle that comes off and on . Earthquakes are good because there release pressure deep within the earth's crust and is a means by which there could be released. However, there are a lot of "owed" earthquakes meaning earthquakes the big ones and the small ones that have not happen yet or are just waiting to happen. Eg ISTANBUL turkey homne to 10 million people...Hmmm i can't imagine the death toll...
The point is this recent happenings, some of them can be avoided and some highly unlikely or not at all... the latter being the natural disasters and the former, human fanaticism, and pointless "jihad" which doesnt seem to be in line with the teachings of Islam...so to speak...
I guess, the best way to tackle this problem is by praying to God and put faith in him so that He will bring victims of natural disaster back on their feet and giev them the strength to continue with their lives..
As for the terrorism which has been "pandemic" enough for a long time, i see no light in the end of the tunnel on this issue. People should start asking why suicide bombers and all those "jihad" fighters are doing this. All of them sems to put the blame on the West. Ok though this is a sensitive issue here and i do not wish to elaborate further on this, but i have to mention one thing, instead of dumping more money to make th rich richer and the poor poorer and create an even greater margin between them why not all people of the higher class help to debate the issue on terrorism and why is it happening and not just leave it merely on the shoulders of leaders, cos there more important issues to deal with like the possible Influenza Pandemic and theri countries development......
